OUR COMMITMENT
From people to planet, INSPECS is committed to building a sustainable long-term future.
At Inspecs Group, our commitment to sustainability begins at the top. The Board of Directors and the executive team are embedding our sustainability purpose into the organisation with ESG being a standing item on the board agenda since 2021. To ensure material ESG issues are integrated into the company’s long-term business vision and purpose, Inspecs Group plc established the Board ESG committee dedicated to the strategic approach, development, and implementation of our sustainability interventions and initiatives.
The Committee was formed and held its first formal meeting in November 2022. The Group has re-aligned its Risk Framework to help identify and mitigate environmental, social, and regulatory risks.
Our ESG roadmap considers planet, people, product, packaging, and procurement. We look to reduce our carbon footprint and have a positive impact on the people and communities around us.
PLANET
To reduce our impact on the planet our projects include more sustainable car fleets, renewable energy, creating a circular economy, and water management.
In response to climate change, we have adopted a dual strategy approach that focuses on reducing our operational GHG emissions as a priority and then offsetting any residual emissions through high-quality verified projects.
We have been collecting and measuring data on our global GHG emissions since 2020 to help us better understand our key emission hotspots and determine the interventions that will have the greatest impact on our carbon footprint.
The emissions measured are our scope 1, scope 2, and various scope 3 emissions. We partnered with Diginex to calculate our 2020/2021/2022 global carbon footprint in accordance with the GHG Protocol and SECR. We have determined the target of our global offices and manufacturing sites to be carbon neutral by 2030. Carbon reduction interventions have already been started across the Group to help us reduce our carbon emissions and achieve this target.
Our UK manufacturing plant, distribution centre, and offices as well as our US distribution centre and German sites are now on a renewable energy tariff. LED lighting has been installed at all our major offices and manufacturing sites.
Our UK car fleet is now 100% electric and hybrid and we have installed electric charging points at our UK head office, distribution centre, and manufacturing site.
Whilst our overall aim is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through various carbon reduction interventions, we have also worked with organisations such as Ecologi and First Climate on renewable energy projects in Sri Lanka and Vietnam to help towards offsetting our Group’s carbon emissions. The projects selected generate clean electricity through the utilisation of wind energy and hydropower as well as creating employment opportunities in the surrounding communities.
In 2020, we kickstarted our UK tree-planting initiative. We have since planted over 4800 trees in the UK through our partnerships with Wanderlands and Ecologi. Over time these trees will help to remove carbon from the atmosphere, contribute towards enhancing air quality and encourage biodiversity.
PRODUCT & PACKAGING
We’re investing in innovation to expand our range of sustainable products. Our Innovations Director is committed to developing sustainable products and packaging, to challenge problems of waste efficiency across the eyewear industry.
We’re finding solutions to use less water in production, and trying new ways to reduce single-use plastic packaging.
We’re cutting waste by making our forecasting systems more accurate, only making and shipping what we need, even throughout our continued growth.
GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY AND THE WORLD AROUND US.

PEOPLE
Being able to demonstrate our commitment to our people and communities through various projects and policies is key to our success. Our partnerships and community initiatives so far are with aid organisations, and charities such as Canadian Vision Care, Gravity Water, Vision Care for Homeless People, Sight Support West of England, and The Conservation Volunteers (TVC) help us to align with our social impact goal of protecting and promoting the visual health and wellbeing of people in our local communities and beyond.
We have created a positive and inclusive workplace culture through various measures. We have implemented a Group Code of Conduct Policy to ensure a united policy that everyone is treated fairly and with respect along with Focus Groups for everyone to be a part of our ESG collaboration.
We are proud that our ESG roadmap and sustainability initiatives contribute to some of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, including but not limited to:
- SGG 3 - Promote health and wellbeing
- SDG 8 - Decent work and economic growth
- SDG 12 - Responsible Consumption
- SDG 13 - Climate Action
- SDG 15 - Life on Land
The people who work for the Group love that it is a vibrant, happening place to be. I am immensely proud of what my team has achieved so far.
